| HPV and Cervical Cancer |
 | While HPV infection is the leading cause of cervical cancer, in reality it is very rare for HPV infection to progress to cancer with proper treatment. 60 to 80 % of CIN 1 dysplasias resolve on their own, and only about 1% of cases progress to invasive cervical cancer. |

 | What Are Genital Warts? |
|
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases
"Genital warts are soft, moist, or flesh colored and appear in the genital area within weeks or months after infection [with HPV]. They sometimes appear in clusters that resemble cauliflower-like bumps, and are either raised or flat, small or large. Genital warts can show up in women on the vulva and cervix, and inside and surrounding the vagina and anus. In men, genital warts can appear on the scrotum or penis. There are cases where genital warts have been found on the thigh and groin."

 | Are Genital Warts Treatable? |
|
American Soical Health Association:
"The goal of any treatment should be to remove visible genital warts to get rid of annoying symptoms. No one treatment is best for all cases. Treating the warts may possibly help reduce the risk of transmission to a partner who may have never been exposed to the wart-types of HPV. "

 | What Are The Treatment Options For Genital Warts? |
|
Rutgers University Health Services:
"There are several treatment options for treating HPV/warts. These range from prescription creams (effective but expensive), to burning the warts with acid or by laser, freezing them with liquid nitrogen, or surgical removal. Treatment by any of theses means often, but not always, leads to a cure. "

 | Will I be Contagious after treating Genital Warts? |
|
Association of Reproductive Health Professionals
"Once no further HPV lesions can be found, and no new lesions appear during the subsequent months, the chance of shedding enough HPV to be contagious dramatically falls. While it is impossible to tell anyone exactly when they have little-to-no chance of passing HPV to a partner, as months go by with no lesions found (especially if none are found by a skilled clinician), the possibility of being contagious is likely to be increasingly remote even if the virus remains in a latent state.
